The Town of Pula

The beautiful seaport town of Pula that lies on the southernmost tip of Istria with its 65,000 inhabitants is the biggest town on the peninsula of Istria.

Its touristic success is especially due to the 2,500 sun hours per year. Nice places to go for a swim can be found south of the town on the small peninsulas of Stoja and Verudela. Along the many kilometre long rocky coast pebbly bays and bathing rocks invite swimmers to dive into the cool, clear water.

The Roman Amphitheatre, landmark of the city, dominates the view above the port. In the world` s fifth-largest arena up to 23,000 spectators used to enjoy the gladiator´ s bloody fights during Roman Times. Today there are great music festivals, whose diversified programmes reach from opera to rock music and whose popular film festival in July is the highlight.
